MARIA SUAREZ

Working in Thailand, Maria conducted interviews with migrant communities, worked on report writing, project management, and learned how to interact directly with donors.
CATARINA SILVA

Catarina worked on matching NGOs with potential donors and later on by using her digital and analytical skills, created an automatic way for organsiations to conduct this research.

Amid the pandemic, through his internship, Jon learned about the legal requirements of start-up social enterprises by helping Connected Development to re-draft its Articles of Association.

Lucas worked on arranging weekly calls with partners, the development of the website, social media communications on behalf of the partners, researching potential funding opportunities, and contributing to the development of a draft grant proposal

Amid the pandemic, Husain worked with a migrant school in Thailand and helped them to fundraise, draft grant applications to potential donors , and create materials for social media.

JOE FISHER

Joe primarily focused on working with an NGO based in India for whom he developed a digital media strategy, wrote an annual report and helped with donor research.

Hadya was able to gain experience in grant writing and website design, as well as learning about a new region of the world and learning about the international development sector.

Megan was able to apply her existing experience of East Africa and Tanzania from her studies to support a grassroots NGO build its first online sites, develop project proposals, and secure grant funding.
Ishita worked with 3 of our NGO Members to advise them on their media strategies - including website, social media and visual storytelling - and with the advisors and director to develop a communication strategy.

Rebecca produced donor applications and project reports in collaboration with our partner in Tanzania, also successfully launching a crowdfunding campaign that generated support for ongoing projects in the rural Kagera region.

“I went to Thailand for an internship as part of my masters in Post War Recovery Studies. Going to Mae Sot and supporting the work of Kickstart Art was a lifetime experience. It allowed me to have experiences that I would not have in other places. I particularly valued the opportunity to take part in the refugee art teaching project taking photos, videos and notes and feeling as another member of the organization. I also learnt a lot from Connected Development (which partners with NGOs like Kick Start Art to help them develop) about report writing, project management, fundraising and how to interact directly with donors. The experience also presented a unique opportunity to work directly with migrant children and communities from Myanmar/Burma, conduct interviews with them but also with a good number of grassroots NGO's and international organizations. For me, the experience was unique in terms of learning, and thanks to the members of Kickstart art it was also fun. I really felt supported and welcomed by them.”
